Approval Time
A typical application will take about 2 weeks to be processed.  When you submit your application online, it may cut
down on processing time by up to a week.  The approval time varies from company to company.  Some may have
your application approved within 48 hours.  With a clean bill of health, you may even get approved immediately.

Preexisting Conditions
Should you have any preexisting conditions the insurance company will most likely request your medical records.
This process of getting your medical records from your physician is most likely going to be the cause of any major
delay in obtaining an approval.  You may want to request the records yourself and provide them to the insurance
company in order to speed up the process.
It should normally only take a couple days for underwriting to make a decision once they receive your medical
records.  Should you have any concerns about a particular condition, you are welcome to give us a call a 931-761-
8568 or drop us an email at info@tennessee1st.com.  We may be able to get  you coverage even when you think
you are uninsurable.

Options available to insurance companies for members with preexisting conditions:

  •  Insurance Companies may rate you up for preexisting conditions. Insurance companies may charge
a higher premium than their standard rates if you have a preexisting condition.  For instance, you may pay up
to 20-30% more over standard rates if you have high blood pressure. Or, you may also pay a higher rate if
you are taking any expensive medications.
  •  Insurance companies may place a rider on your preexisting condition.  If an insurance company
places a rider on your preexisting condition they will not cover that condition.  Some companies may rider the
condition only for a specific period of time, while others may rider the condition for the life of the policy.  For
instance, if you have Asthma, the insurance company may not cover any costs associated with Asthma, but
will cover other non-related medical costs.
  •  You may be rated up based on your height and weight.  Should you fall outside of the weight/height
ratio you may also be rated up (charged a higher premium than the standard premium).

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Each insurance company may treat your preexisting condition differently.  While insurance
company ABC may place a rider on your condition and not cover it at all, insurance company XYZ may just rate up
your premium and cover your condition.  That is why it is so important to get quotes from multiple companies with an
independent insurance agency like Tennessee First Insurance Agency.

We will make sure to monitor your application process.  If your application is pended for any reason we will contact
you for any additional required documentation or information requested by the insurance company.

You will also be notified once the insurance company has approved or denied your application.
